On August 15 we celebrate the independence of the sovereign nation of India. In 1947 after decades of struggle for independence from British Empire, India finally achieved by implementing democracy.

The festivities begin in New Delhi with the raising of the flag from the Prime Minister at the Red Fort. Also in this ceremony, delicious candies are distributed among the attendees.

A tradition that has for years is that of flying kites. It's really beautiful to see the sky covered with thousands and thousands of comets. Children and adults, without distinction of participating in this particular celebration, in an atmosphere of revelry and joy.

Ganesha hopefully give us a beautiful day to celebrate this great date for the country.

There are many stories about Ganesha's head. One story tells that Shiva cuts of his head and then Shiva restored Ganesha to life but with a elephant head because it was the only one available. But other story tells that Ganesha's head was burned when Saturn is forced by Parvati to look at her child and bless him. The elephant part of Ganesha represents the unmanifested great being.
